Week 11: Mechanic and Assets Update


We have made several new mechanics in the game. Here are the new mechanics:

1. Time Stop

Time Stop is an ability that can be used by the player. As the name suggests, Time Stop stops the time in the game, locking everything in its place except the player. The player cannot defeat enemies affected by time stop. However, enemies affected by time stop can be used as a makeshift platform by the player. Time Stop also eliminates all projectiles.

2. Deflect

Deflect is an ability that can be used by the player. While Deflect is active, the player can turn incoming projectiles against their enemy. The deflected projectile will target the nearest enemy.

In addition, we have also made several new sprites for the game. Here are our new sprites:

1. Square

The square is a basic enemy in the game. The square moves by jumping around and will chase the player if they are close to it. The square can be defeated using Stomp.

2. Triangle

The triangle is an enemy that can shoot projectiles. The triangle's movement is similar to the square's. The triangle's projectile can be turned against it using the new ability called Deflect. The triangle can only be defeated using the deflected projectile.

3. Green Core

The green core is an item that can be picked by the player. The green core restores the player's health bar. The player can find these throughout the stage.

4. Chip

The chip is a collectible item in the game. The chip gives bonus score for the player when they pick it. Chips are scattered throughout the stage. Trying to pick the chips takes time so the player must be able to use their abilities in order to get it efficiently.

We have also made our first level. The first level is The Storage. In this stage, the player only has the ability Stomp. We plan to make five levels for the game. We also plan to make special levels for the player to practice using the abilities that they can use in the game.

Lastly, we have made several new sound assets. The new sound assets include:

1. Player death sound

2. Enemy death sound

3. Time Stop ability sound

4. Deflect ability sound

We are planning to make more sound assets, especially the BGM. We also plan to make the rest of the levels. We are also preparing for the game's full release.
