Week 1 Report: Game Concept & Team Information
Genre
Shapes of the Past is a 2D Platformer with a twist. In this game, players are focused with their ability to jump and are able to wall jump.
Core Gameplay Mechanic
The player control a ball/circle with the ability to jump and wall jump. By using the environment to jump and build up speed, player can reach places that are unable to be accessed by just normal jump. Player can only bounce once on a side of a wall once in a row. Player also has the ability to stomp, going down in high speed and able to kill some enemies. By combining these mechanics, player can find a way to traverse the level quickly or at their own pace.
Storyline
All the shapes used to live in their own planet minding their own business. The circle found something unique that can only be found in their planet. Hearing about this news, other shapes work together to invade the circle planet. When they invaded, the circles weren’t ready so some of them went into hiding while also bringing the artifact with them. Some of the circles went into training, to drive off other shapes from the planet. When they are ready to face them, they use the artifact to go back to the past. Using the training they use from the future, will it be enough to fight the other shapes?
